Privacy policy

There is very little to explain, so this is short.

Controller

What is processed

  • A random ID generated by your own browser (a UUID). It is not derived from you, your device, or your IP address, and it cannot be linked back to you.
  • The result video you voted for.
  • The time your vote was created and last changed.

No names, no email addresses, no IP-based profiling, no device fingerprinting, no analytics.

Purpose

Running a single vote for a one-off community event, so the hosts can announce the winning solution after the results gallery closes.

Legal basis

Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in running the event vote fairly (one vote per browser) with the least data possible.

Where the data is stored

Votes are stored in a managed PostgreSQL database (Supabase, operated through Lovable Cloud) hosted in the European Union region. Result videos are self-hosted on the project’s own content delivery network (Lovable Assets). The site itself is hosted by Lovable, which processes standard server logs (including IP addresses) as a processor for the purpose of delivering the page and keeping it secure.

Retention

All vote records are deleted within 30 days after the event (21 August 2026). Videos may be retained longer as event documentation.

Sharing

No data is shared with third parties. No advertising, no tracking, no data sales. Aggregate results (counts per video) are only seen by the two event hosts. Videos are never embedded from YouTube, Vimeo or other external players; they are served directly from this project’s own infrastructure.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Because the vote is only tied to a random ID in your browser, we can usually only identify your record if you send us that ID (see the storage section below for how to read it). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in Germany the data protection authority of your federal state.

Videos

The result demo videos are self-hosted on this project’s own CDN (Lovable Assets). They are served like any other page asset. Watching a video does not set cookies or create any viewer profile. No external video platform (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) is loaded, so no third-party tracker is involved.

Cookies & storage notice

This site sets no cookies. It uses exactly one item of local storage:

  • bwai_voter_id (localStorage), a random UUID created by your browser. Purpose: remembering your vote so you can change it. Lifetime: until you clear your browser data. Strictly functional.
  • bwai_storage_notice_ack (localStorage), which remembers that you dismissed the storage notice at the bottom of the page. Strictly functional.

The notice shown on your first visit is informational only. No consent is requested, because the site uses only strictly necessary functional storage and no tracking or advertising cookies. The page makes no requests to third-party domains: fonts are self-hosted and the only backend calls are to this project’s own database and CDN.
